  1.      Locked  DTE  usualy  is  just a  setting  the  the  software

  3. package.  You tell it LOCKED=YES and the software will only  talk
  4.  
  5. to the modem at that speed, lttting the modem handle  modem-modem
  6.  
  7. communications, and ignoring any CONNECT XXXX messages.
  8.  
  9.      For  equipment with no software, you connect the modem to  a
  10.  
  11. terminal  (or  with terminal software) and set the  speed,  stop,
  12.  
  13. parity and bits. Type AT&W to the modem and the modem is set  and
  14.  
  15. will   'wake  up'  at  that  setting  whenever  powered  on.   It
  16.  
  17. automatically  sets the correct register (bits) when it gets  the
  18.  
  19. AT command, the &W saves those settings.
